FSPC Library News!

As you may have heard by now, the CSPC and FSPC will be moving out of our current location on September 15, 2016. As packing up the FSPC Library for an organized move is a big undertaking, we will be closing the library to patrons and suspending operations as of August 15, 2016. We are also beginning late fee amnesty as of August 10, 2016 to encourage everyone to please return any materials they still have checked out.

You may continue to return materials during our closure at 1608 15th Avenue West Seattle 98119. You can also mail our books back to the same address through September 9th.

We will be maintaining our current schedule and adding more volunteer shifts – these shifts will be spent preparing the library for the move. We are opening volunteer shifts to everyone, no special training required.

We thank you for your support of the FSPC Library and look forward to seeing you in our new location soon!

Reclaiming Our Pleasure as the Antidote to Slut Shaming

This Sunday, Nekole Shapiro and Allena Gabosch invite you to tackle the complex topics of slut shaming, pleasure, and discontinuing the cycle of shame over the course of two facilitated discussions. Curious? Check out the story of how this pair of workshops came to be on Nekole’s blog.

Please be prepared to share thoughts and ask questions. Confidentiality and consent are honored at all points through the day. These two discussions need a minimum number of participants to run. Please either purchase your ticket online before Saturday morning, or email us to reserve your ticket to purchase at the door when you arrive.

Part 1: 10am-noon
Examining How Slut Shaming Decreases Our Pleasure

shame-healingHow do you define slut? How do others define slut? Are you one? Do others think you are? Who gets to decide? How does that shame impact you and how do you recover your pleasure in the face of it? All this and more with Nekole Shapiro and Allena Gabosch.

Lunch Break: Noon-1pm
Space will be open for attendees to eat their own food.

Part 2: 1pm-3pm
Raising Kids Without Sexual Shame Facilitated Discussion

Imagine a world without sexual shame. Imagine a world accepting of all types of families. Imagine a world where children talk to their parents about the changes in their bodies and their sexual desires instead of looking to media for their sex education. If you are interested in making this world a reality, you won’t want to miss: Raising Kids Without Sexual Shame.

We believe that life is a projection of our own inner state.  How could we possibly facilitate something for others if we ourselves do not possess it?  We also believe in the power of peer support.  So, Nekole and Allena Gabosch have structured this powerful discussion in a way that allows us to heal ourselves and with each other as we search for new ways to address sexuality and reproduction with our children.  If you are searching for a new way to address sexuality and reproduction with the coming generations and know or are willing to investigate the possibility that your own healing is the key to this change, you will NOT want to miss this discussion!

Nekole’s & Allena’s discussions are open, supportive, deep and fun.
