Hedwig visits Seattle in February!

Seattle has a burgeoning and active bondage community and we are always excited to be able to bring an educator to the area with special skills and new view points. We are pleased to announce that we have made arrangements with Hedwig, an bondage educator from Sweden, who teach internationally!

Hedwig is passionate about communication, rope bondage, safer sex and consent culture, about redressing notions of power, physical sensations, vulnerability, dominance and submission, gender and communities working together. She hopes to bring rope bondage to a larger audience as a way to gain more body awareness, work on interpersonal communication and offer different routes to pleasure and surrender. You can learn more about them at senseshibari.com.

Both of Hedwig’s classes have limited space and we expect to sell out, so we suggest you get your tickets early. Mark your calendars and join us and Hedwig the first weekend in February 2018!

Friday, February 2 — 7:30pm
Let’s Teppou – Exploring Asymmetrical Bondage Ties ~Educator: Hedwig
Ballard: $90 (duo) Advance: $80 (duo)

This is a hands on class in which you will explore a structured asymmetrical tie, where you can look at both the structure and aesthetic elements. We can look at various ways to use the tie, both for floor work, partials and if time allows, a few considerations regarding suspending & transitioning with this tie. The fascinating thing about working around a teppou is that we can explore more elements of asymmetry and ways of playing with balance. This is a class suitable for those who are able to tie a standard 3 rope TK/gote and are confident in their suspension practices. As a rope partner you need to be able to recognize the difference between circulation and nerve impingement & communicate this.

Saturday, February 3 — 1:00pm
Free Form Floorwork ~Educator: Hedwig
Club Sapphire: $45 (solo)  Advance: $35 (solo) and $65 (duo)

A hands on class which seeks to inspire the participants to fluidity in freestyle floorwork. By working through various exercises we will look at ways of breaking out of our habits, how we can give, receive & read feedback, & how to incorporate freedom in restraint. Freestyle flowing from a basic single column tie gives plenty of opportunity to work not through patterns but letting rope react to those involved; rope is about who you are in rope. Besides from a few simple principles of rope friction and basic ways of shaping movement & body you will be given plenty of time for experimentation and fun.Suitable for those comfortable with a one column tie, participants should be prepared to be physically close to their partner.

Thank you for a magnificent year!

Greetings!

This has been a successful year for the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture and its programs: Consent Academy, Seattle Erotic Art Festival, our education program, and the Seattle Erotic Cinema Society’s first annual SECS Film Fest. I wanted to thank you for all the support you have given to this organization. Every time you buy a ticket, make a donation, share information about us on social media, and volunteer your time or skills, it is a valuable contribution to the work we are doing to make the world a safer, more accepting place for people of all genders and sexual orientations. If you have more to give, please add the Foundation to your list of charities for your end of year giving.

I believe that to be whole and happy, we have to accept our sexuality as a part of ourselves. I believe that art is a perfect tool to help us understand other experiences outside our own. Erotic art can help us transcend tolerance and move into acceptance of the vast array of sexual expression. Seattle Erotic Art Festival and Seattle Erotic Cinema Society strive to create atmospheres that support and celebrate societal and personal evolutions.

The Consent Academy continues to be a resource for strengthening Consent Culture throughout the Puget Sound. Not only within Foundation events and programs, but through offering education and consultations. The Education Program is dedicated to offering a safe space for explorations for all with a variety topics, and the Pay It Forward Scholarship program.

All of our programs share a common goal to make this world more consent-conscious and a safer place for people to become their whole, authentic selves.

You can learn of the many ways you can support the on this web page, or you can donate directly online using a credit card here.

All of us at the Foundation are out to change the world. Your tax deductible donation will help make that change happen. Whether you choose to support a specific program or the organization in general, you have our deepest appreciation.

Yours in service of creating a more loving, consenting, sex positive world,

Sophia Iannicelli
Executive Director
